Michelle Obama Talks to Natalie Moore About ‘Becoming’ Who She is Today Click here to listen to Natalie Moore’s November 14, 2018 interview with Michelle Obama about her new book Becoming. The library has copies of this book! 2019-2020 Immigrants and Refugees Booklist The African American Racial Justice Booklist has inspired much reading, learning, and discussion this year. Next’s year’s thematic book list will be about the experiences of immigrants and refugees. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reports that there are currently 68.5 million forcibly displaced persons worldwide. People become displaced due to wars, violence, persecution, and climate change. Click here for further facts and statistics. The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) reports 257.7 million international migrants worldwide in 2017 with 49.8 million in the United States. Click here to explore the data. Let’s work together to curate a list of books, articles, plays, films, videos, music, and other works that point to the experiences and challenges of migrants, asylum seekers, refugees and immigrants all around the world. Please use this Google survey to suggest works for this initiative. All submissions will be considered. Multiple copies of all books on the final list will be purchased for the Jones library. CPS Student Passwords Expiring! As of April 2, 2019, passwords for Chicago Public Schools students in grades 9-12 will begin to expire and must be reset by the student. It is very important for students to reset their passwords prior to expiration in order to avoid a disruption to classroom time.
