March 25, 2021 Dear Jones Community, HOW WILL WE LIVE TOGETHER? 2021-2022 in the Library In the fall the library program will resume the custom of compiling an annual thematic book list that will be accompanied by great programming. Past initiatives include the African American Racial Justice Book List ‘18-’19 and the Immigrants & Refugees Book List ‘19-’20. For the 2021-2022 school year I propose the following theme (still a concept in progress): How will we live together? Liberation for all people. Joy to the world. Healing. Equity. Reconciliation. Post-Covid. Rebuilding. New beginnings. The extended quarantine tested our strength, adjusted our personal priorities, and forced us to acknowledge many realities, injustices, and challenges that have been too long ignored. As we make our way back to school and other customs and routines, how can we sustain the conversations and efforts to demand equity for all? How will we live together? Please email me at [email protected] to suggest fiction and nonfiction book titles, poetry, articles, essays, speeches, films, documentaries, songs, other works, and other ideas related to this broad theme. A top priority is representation of as many peoples and viewpoints as possible. New Books and Summer Checkout! There are lots of new books in the library and many more will arrive in time for underclassmen to check out and enjoy over the summer.
