Students made beautiful light-up gingerbread houses in the Library Makerspace this week during ac lab period. Stop by the library to see the Gingerbread Village! African American Racial Justice Book List EVENTS Twenty-two people attended a spirited and thoughtful discussion of the widely acclaimed book The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas in the library on Tuesday, December 4. JONES JAM Ready player one... Coming February 1, 2019, a unique experience that will challenge the creative minds of students, and we're calling on all clubs to participate in the first creative festival - Jones Jam! Students throughout the school and across the city will converge onto Jones to design a game using their imagination through storytelling, problem solving, art & design, coding, and music. What? An all day Celebration of Creativity through Games. 12 hours of fun and collaboration with students at Jones and other CPS schools like Northside Prep, Payton, and Lane Tech. We'll have guest speakers, workshops, creative science stuff, food, and fun things to do. When? February 1st, Friday, 8am - 8pm (CPS School Improvement Day - No school for students.) Where? Jones College Prep High School, 700 South State Street, Chicago, IL Printers Row area in the South Loop, near State St. and Congress Who? Jones and CPS Students and staff (Jones students may earn volunteer hours.) How Much? Free to all attendees. Registration required. Now we need you! Chicago Public Library’s Winter Learning Challenge for Teens, Dec. 17-Jan. 17 The Teen Winter Challenge is called "Express Yourself". Teens are asked to submit a digital portfolio of original pieces of work and an artist’s statement. Prizes include scholarships or gift cards and the opportunity to see their work featured on the CPL website. All high school students in Chicago are eligible to submit a portfolio.
