June 9, 2020 Dear Jones Students, You have been and continue to be in my thoughts and in my heart since I last saw you almost three months ago. I deeply regret that circumstances prevented us from engaging in many of the cherished events, celebrations, and rituals so dear to all of us and of particular importance to the wonderful Class of 2020. We didn’t get to experience the months-long slow goodbyes to each other, and I know that hurts. The global pandemic and the pain of the injustice we are witnessing has been a lot to endure. Please know that I AM WITH YOU IN SOLIDARITY in support for Black Lives Matter and the fight for freedom and justice. I hope that you are all doing your best to take care of yourselves and your loved ones both physically and emotionally. I’m sure that many of you have experienced swings between love and fear, hope and dread, advances and setbacks, and smiles and tears. I know I have. Please read this summer. We must exercise our brains and inform ourselves more than ever to prepare to confront our numerous challenges.
