January 24, 2020 Dear Jones Community, Finals Week Library Hours - IMPORTANT! The library will be used for testing all three days of finals. The library will be open before school and after school as usual. The library will most likely be able to host a smaller number of students during the lunch/ac lab periods and only in the northern portion of the library (including the center computers and the printer). A quieter library will be essential to not disturb students testing. The library will close at 3:30 PM on Thursday, January 30. Just Take a Book Week 2019 was a success! 320 books were checked out to students in three weeks in December for winter break reading. Lots MORE NEW BOOKS books have arrived to the library in December and January including a couple of boxes this week. Click here to explore amazing new and newer books! There are now green compost bins located in both cafeterias and in the main lobby for students and staff to use in addition to the standard blue landfill bins. The green compost bins are meant solely for organic waste, so it is important keep plastic contamination to an absolute minimum. As global warming becomes an increasingly pressing issue, it is critical for Jones students to learn to reduce their environmental footprint as much as possible. Composting is a great way for the Jones community to embrace sustainability. CPS schools already composting report a 60% reduction in waste. To learn more or to compost in your home reach out to Jones senior Isabel Sices [email protected] or learn more at Healthy Soil Compost. Winter Block Party is back!
