Library Sign-In and Student ID’s / Scanning Discontinued For various reasons students will resume SIGNING IN to the library instead of scanning. Students will be scanned into the library only during ac lab periods. Related to that, students must have their student ID’s with them to enter the library during ac lab periods. Regular ID’s and temporary ID’s are both acceptable. As a reminder, if you are coming to the library with your class and a teacher you don’t have to sign in at all! This info is also posted on the library website home page. Chicago Northside Mini Maker Faire Schurz High School 3601 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago Sat May 5, 2018, 10am - 4pm Chicago Northside Mini Maker Faire is the first Maker Faire in the Chicagoland area. Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these "makers" to show hobbies, experiments, projects. Attend Maker Faire to learn more about MakerSpaces and to enjoy the showcase of of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness. Night of Noise Celebration/Open Mic and Dance Party, April 27, 6:00-8:00 PM, Alice Rapoport Center for Education at the Goodman Theater, 170 N Dearborn Street. Free event! Any middle school or high school student willing to be respectful of the space is totally welcome, and the event is geared toward those who feel like their identities are silenced in schools. This means LGBTQ+ people, but this year the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance is expanding the focus of the Day of Silence and Night of Noise to include anyone who feels their identities have been stifled in schools. Chicago Architecture Foundation’s Youth Design Competition Attention artists, designers, engineers, photographers, and architects! The 2018 Newhouse Architecture + Design Competition is partnered with firms, non-profits and studios that are all currently working on Chicago-focused issues.The Newhouse Competition invites students to solve one of seven challenges in graphic design, model making, photography and fine arts.
